I am honored and very excited to present this wonderful property that is included in The National Register of Historic Places in the Fischer Historical District.
Circa 1908 " Fischer Haus " 4 bedroom,4 bath homestead on just under 6 acres. Boasting true Cypress siding, original hardwood flooring & beautiful Shiplap walls / ceilings throughout the home & Gristmill! The Gristmill was built around 1900 to help farmers who were forced to travel the distance to Blanco. It remained in use until approx.1920. Upon entering this timeless structure, you are overcome with a feeling of nostalgia when you see the still existing loading ramp along with many other original features. The beloved American Country Music singer & Grand Ole Opry member Hal Ketchum restored and built the stunning kitchen counter along with residing in the Gristmill for many years.
Herman Fischer actually settled in 1853. The first 2 Fischer Stores were on this property but gone now. When walking the grounds, you can still see the original stone footing from previous structure. The third store is located on the property next door, which is still owned by a member of the Fischer family.
The laid back, funky country "Cantina" structure has been home to Fischer Haus Concerts for over 15 years. Highly respected statewide and beyond, featuring entertainers including Hal Ketchum, David Lee, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, Gary P Nunn, Susan Gibson, and many more. You will find rustic wooden plaques for each singer/songwriter who shared their gift of music still hanging throughout the Cantina, preserved and ready for future concerts for whomever is fortunate enough to continue the legacy of this amazing property!
Huge,3 room barn which could easily be converted into a mercantile or whatever your dreams may be! Entire property has been maintained in its original form as much as possible throughout the years and is overflowing with character. Including an adorable outhouse with toilet & shower. The Fischer Haus property is often referred to as "Terlingua East", "South South South Austin Music Scene", and the "Baby to Luckenbach Texas". When visiting this property, you can feel the history and good vibes as you walk along the grounds of the original homesteaders of Fischer, Texas. It truly is a magical place!
